Drones and Airports Don't Mix
Mario Bayndrian GM Aviation at Bankstown Airport has warned that if you are considering operating a drone anywhere near Bankstown Airport then please reconsider.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has regulations restricting drones being operated within 5.5 kilometres of any airport or helicopter landing site which are found at most large hospitals including Liverpool and Westmead Hospitals.
“As the popularity of drones’ increases so does the potential for a collision with aircraft when they are operated near airports” advised Mr Bayndrian who also emphasised the need to spread the message as wide as possible regarding the danger that drones pose to aircraft.
